A new factory stern trawler for Norwegian owners was launched this week at the Tersan Shipyard in Turkey.
The new Granit is owned by Bekkjarvik company Halstensen Granit AS and operated in co-operation with AS Granit in Vartdal. Production is marketed by Brødrene SperreAS.
Granit is an 81.20 metre factory vessel with a 16.60 metre beam, built at Tersan to a Skipsteknisk ST-117l design. It has a 6960kW main engine driving a 4200mm diameter CPP propeller. Auxiliary power comes from a pair of 1100kW gensets, plus there is a PTO on the gearbox and a 3500kW floating frequency shaft alternator.
The design is for a freezer vessel with 1485 cubic metre refrigerated cargo hold, a forward fishmeal hold with a 370 cubic metre capacity a 165 cubic metre upper fishmeal hold and a 110 cubic metre packing/fishmeal hold
Granit is expected to be completed for delivery by the Tersan yard early next year.
