Organiser John Buchan, skipper of the Atlantic Challenge, said that teams of 3 and individuals are very welcome, with entry fees set at £60 for teams or £20 per head. Owner Kenneth Watt was delighted to provide two of Scotland’s top chefs – Tony and Maureen Jackson – to cook up some unusual dishes in the club house, using fish provided by local boats.
According to John Buchan the tournament coincides with the start of Seafood Fortnight so this year, instead of fish and chips, we decided to encourage people to eat a wider range of seafood and Maureen and Tony are just the people to show us what to do with it. He also told that there is a lot of squid, megrim and hake being landed at the moment. He informed that sponsorships are on the way from Peterhead Port Authority and John Wallace the CEO is very enthusiastic about it.
John Buchan also states that they are also grateful to Ann Bell of the North Sea Regional Advisory Council for sponsoring the visitors’ cup, and already they have a number signed up to play.
