The organisers of the Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition to be held 13th-15th of September next year are already gearing up ahead of the event.
Several new aspects will also characterise the exhibition, including a Small Business Zone offering for up-and-coming companies and small businesses spanning the commercial fishing industry to showcase their activities and products. These ready-made stands will be a cost effective way for first time exhibitors and smaller companies to attend Icefish, and experience the excellent networking opportunities the exhibition has to offer.
The Icefish Bursary is also being extended. In 2014 the organisers set aside funds to give competent fishing crew the opportunity to take up further education. A committee will be put together this year from members of key Icelandic Fishing organisations to set the criteria on which to choose the bursary recipients. The two winners will both receive a bursary of ISK1,000,000 to be used towards their further education. Further details of this will be announced in the summer.
Next year the World Seafood Congress will be held for the first time in Iceland, and will coincide with Icefish 2017. This important biennial congress, previously held in Washington DC, St. Johns and Grimsby is expected to bring in a 500 strong international audience, who will be joining the exhibition on the opening day, Wednesday September 13, 2017.
