The families associated with the fishing vessel Lady Mary is going to be benefited from an open fund that raised by the government to aid them. The commercial fishing boat sank 60 miles off the coast of Cape May on March 24 taking the lives of six crewmembers. This has brought miseries to the families associated with the fishing vessel.
According to the information available the contributions of the fund would be given to aid the families. The contributions may be sent to Sturdy Savings Bank/Lady Mary Fund, 701 Washington St. Cape May, NJ 08204. It is mentioned that the donations are also being accepted at the Lobster House Office, 6 Schellenger’s Landing Road; Atlantic Cape Fisheries on Ocean Drive; Sea Gear Marine, Rt. 109 and Fourth Avenue, and Cape Port Marine, 795 Route 9.
The information also states that on June 19 at 7 p.m. the night prior to the opening of Harborfest weekend, a memorial service will be held at the Fisherman’s Memorial in Cape May along with the traditional blessing of the waters. It is informed that the Coast Guard band will play and local clergy members will lead the service. The Fisherman’s Memorial is dedicated to those lost at sea. Gretchen Ferrante, director of the Nature Center of Cape May, is forming a group to maintain the memorial. The group will meet June 2 at 6 p.m. at the Nature Center, 1600 Delaware Ave.
