Ervik Havfiske’s longliner Frøyanes has set a record with an 880 tonne trip
Longliner Frøyanes was delivered new in 2011 to Ervik Havfiske and according to Norwegian maritime business website Sysla, the vessel and its crew have completed a record trip.
The overall catch of 880 tonnes consists of both frozen and canned products, including 32,000 cartons of canned roe, as well as various other consumer-ready products made on the longliner’s factory deck. Among these are finished portions of cod meals. Getting the factory deck’s different functions to work simultaneously has not bene easy, but now it has been possible to run canning and freezing production side-by-side.
Ervik Havfiske is reported to have had a record year in 2015, building on rising whitefish prices that began in 2014.
