The Admiralty Shipyard in St. Petersburg has laid the keel of the fourth of ten fishing vessels for the Russian Fishery Company (RFC).
Work began on the third vessel, Mekanik Sizov in June this year, and the fourth of the ST-192 trawlers is named Kapitan Martynov, after Far East fleet skipper Viktor Nikolaevich Martynov (1954-2002).
The first two trawlers in the series, Kapitan Vdovichenko and Mekanik Maslak, are expected to be commissioned in 2021.
‘The whole series of vessels will be built in pairs, thus, starting next year, we will receive two new vessels each year. We look forward to an increase in the pace of construction with each new pair,’ commented Dmitry Sapov, RFC’s Deputy General Director for Fleet Construction.
The supertrawlers for the RFC will be the largest and most technologically advanced fishing vessels in the Russian fleet. Each is designed for an annual catch of more than 60,000 tonnes and the company is investing around 65 billion rubles in its new fleet of ten trawlers
