The fourth in a series of trawlers built for Royal Greenland and associated companies is to be fitted with a Carsoe factory deck.
This fourth trawler in the series built at Astilleros de Murueta in Spain is for Qaleralik AS and follows two trawlers built for Royal Greenland and one approaching completion for Ice Trawl. All four have Carsoe factory decks.
The new trawler for Qaleralik replaces an older vessel and its factory deck will handle the complete process from the catch being dropped through the hatch to the finished products being stored in the refrigerated fishroom.
The three-lane factory layout incorporates separate processing lines for halibut, cod and shrimp.
On the shrimp line the catch is sorted and graded before continuing to the complete cooking line. Greenland halibut are sorted and processed, with options for J-cut, whole round, headed and tailed. The roundfish line is for producing H&G cod.
The three processing lines converge at the 80 tonne/ day capacity freezing section with two automatic plate freezers, two complete IQF freezing tunnels and four vertical freezers designed to ensure effective and freezing with a high throughput rate. All three types of freezers are designed, produced, and installed by Carsoe to complete the turnkey factory solution from a single supplier.
Frozen products pass to automatic sorting and palletising in the packing section. Blocks and IQF-shrimp are sorted and palletised according to species. Wrapped and palletised catches are taken in an elevator to the fishroom in an automated system that requires less manpower in the hold.
The vessel is scheduled to be delivered in October 2022 and will fish around Greenland.
