According to the Fish Sustainability Information Group (FSIG) interested organisations and/or independent bodies are invited to file tender for the contract to critically review the various organisations and their activities, including methodologies, that analyse, assess and supply data, provide guidance, dissemination and otherwise communicate on the sustainability of World fisheries to retailers, foodservice sectors, consumers and others.
The UK’s Sea Fish Industry Authority (Seafish) along with others has formed FSIG is an international consortium of organisations in 2008. It is composed of Main and Associate members along with a number of Observer members drawn from countries representing a variety of national organisations concerned with seafood trade.
It is said that the review will focus principally on organisations providing information to the retail, foodservice sectors and / or consumers, either in the form of branded third party eco-labelling (e.g. MSC, Friends of the Sea) or national standards (Ireland, Australia) or recommendation lists (e.g. Monterey Bay Aquarium) or information published on internet web sites (e.g. Fishsource.) The last date for submission of tender is 31st October.
