With a upturn in landings of whitefish at Peterhead fish market Scotland’s Premier fishing port at the start of last week Monday August 8 prices were reported to be good.
On the first market day of the week Monday August 8 Eight trawlers landed a total 3791 boxes of whitefish which sold at the following prices. Large Cod £3.00-£3.70, Medium £2.80-£3.30, Haddock Large £2.00-£2.30, Medium £2.00-£2.30, Metros £1.00-£1.40, Whiting 80p-£1.20, Round Whiting £1.00-£1.60, Lemon Sole £2.00-£4.00., Monkfish £2.50-£4.60, Coley £1.50-£1.90, Megrims £1.10-£5.30, Plaice 65p-£1.50, Hake £1.00-£2.00, Witches £1.00-£2.00 and Ling £1.50-£2.50.
Trawlers landed Celestial Dawn, Harvest Hope, Ocean Reward, Glenguie, Budding Rose, Lapwing, Opportune (LK) and Heather Sprig.
The following day’s market Tuesday saw Eight Trawlers land a total of 2701 boxes of whitefish which made the following prices at market. Large Cod £3.00-£4.00, Medium £2.80-£3.40, No Large Haddock, No Medium Haddock sold, Metros £1.00-£1.40, Whiting £1.50-£2.00, Round Whiting 85p-£1.40, Lemon Sole £2.00-£5.00, Monkfish £3.50-£4.50, Coley £1.50-£1.70, Megrims £2.00-£5.00, Plaice 65p-£1.50, Hake £1.00-£1.70, Witches £1.00-£2.00 and Ling £2.00-£2.50.
Trawlers landed Rosemount, Helenus, Nordfjordr, Zenith , Sardonyx, Shalimar, Artemis and Favonius.
The next day Wednesday saw Five Trawlers land a total 4414 boxes of whitefish which made the following prices at market Haddock Large £2.40-£2.60, Medium £2.40-£2.80, Large Cod £3.00-£3.80, Medium £2.80-£3.40, Metros £1.00-£1.80, Whiting £1.60-£2.00, Round Whiting £1.10-£1.70, Coley £1.50-£1.80, Monkfish £4.00-£4.50, Megrims £1.10-£2.00, Lemon Sole £2.00-£6.00, Plaice 65p-£1.50, Hake 80p-£1.50, Witches £1.00-£2.00 and Ling £2.00-£2.50.
Trawlers landed Renown, Ocean Bounty, Castlewood, Attain and Viking Monarch.
The Following day’s market Thursday saw eight trawlers land a total of 2668 boxes of whitefish which sold at the following prices. Large Cod £3.00-£4.00, Medium £3.00-£3.60, Haddock Large £2.60-£2.90, Medium £2.60-£2.90, Metros £1.30-£1.90, Whiting £1.50-£2.00, Round Whiting £1.50-£1.90, Lemon Sole £2.00-£5.00, Monkfish £3.00-£5.00, Coley £1.40-£1.80, Megrims £2.70-£3.70, Plaice 65p-£1.80, Hake 95p-£1.50, Witches £1.20-£2.00 and Ling £2.00-£2.30.
Trawlers landed Ocean Venture, Sustain, Surmount, Aalskere, Accord, Lapwing, Budding Rose, and Pegasus.
The last market of the week Friday saw Twelve trawlers land a total of5187 boxes of Whitefish which sold for the following prices. Cod Large £3.00-£4.00, Medium £2.70-£3.80, Haddock Large £2.30-£2.70, Medium £2.20-£3.30, Metros £1.00-£1.60, Whiting £1.30-£2.00, Round Whiting 60p-£1.20, Coley £1.20-£1.50, Lemon Sole £2.00-£6.00, Monkfish £3.50-£4.50, Megrims £1.50-£4.00, Plaice 65p-£1.50, Hake £1.00-£2.00, Witches £1.00-£2.00, and Ling £1.90-£2.20.
Trawlers landed Fruitful Bough, Archturus, Ardent, Norlantean, Rosebloom, Boy John, Ocean Reward, Tranquility, Sardonyx, Amity, Conquest and Heather Sprig.
At Peterhead for the week there were 41 trawler landings for a total of 18,761 boxes of whitefish. There were Two pelagic landings of Herring.
At Fraserburgh Harbour there were 53 trawler landings over the week for a total of2004 boxes of whitefish.
At Scrabster Harbour there were 15 trawler landings for a total of 4127 boxes of whitefish.
At Buckie Harbour there were eight trawler landings of 603 boxes of whitefish, prawns and squid and 60 bogs of Clams.
At Pittenweem Harbour there were fair landings of prawns at the local market despite the bad weather that hit the area. The local prawn fleet are fishing the waters of the Firth of Forth and beyond.
At St Monans, Anstruther and Crail harbours the local shellfish boats are landing fair catches of Lobster and Crabs which are selling for fair prices.
Prawns Landed at Pittenweem Harbour Fife’s Main fishing port are still be sold and sent to Paris.
