Over 5,900 boxes of whitefish were sold at Peterhead Fish Market, Scotland’s premier fishing port for the first two days of last week (August 9-10) where moderate supplies attracted some good steady prices.
The largest grades of Haddock sold at £114-£154 per 57kg on Tuesday of last week.
On Monday 9th August 12 trawlers landed a total of 3,572 boxes of white fish which sold at Large Cod £2.50-£3.30, medium £2.50-£3, Large Haddock £2.00-£2.50, Medium £2.00-£2.50, Whiting £1.80-£2.20, Monkfish £3.70-£4.20, Megrims £1.50-£4.50, Coley £1.00-£1.40, Plaice 60p-£2.00, Hake £1.50-£2.50 and Ling £1.50-£2.20.
Trawlers Landed Summer dawn, Golden Gain, Genesis, Ocean Reaper, Farnella, Celestail Dawn, Aalskere, Kiroan, Nordfjordr, Helenus, Gleaner and Atlantic Chellenge.
The following day Tuesday 8 boats landed a total of 2358 boxes of white fish which sold at Haddock Large £2.00-£2.70,
Medium £2.00-£2.50, Large Cod £2.50-£3.80, Medium £2.50-£3.00, Whiting £1.30-£2.00, Megrims £1.00-£4.00, Monkfish £3.50-£4.50, Lemond Sole £1.50-£4.00, Coley £1.10-£1.40, Hake £1.50-£2.50, Ling £1.60-£1.80, Plaice70p-£1.50.
Trawlers landed Fruitful Bough, Strathelliot, Moremma, Daisy, Favonius, Fear Not, Amity and Arcturus.
Wednesday saw 10 trawlers land a total of 2843 boxes of white fish which sold at Cod Large £2.90-£3.90, medium £2.80-£3.30, Haddock Large £2.50-£3.00, Medium £2.50-£2.80, Whiting £1.20-£2.20, Lemon Sole £2.00-£5.00, Monkfish £3.50-£4.50, Megrims £2.00-£3.00, coley £1.00-£1.20, Plaice 60p-£2.00 and ling £1.80-£2.00
Boats landed Northanteen, Margaret’s, Karmarra, Morning Star, Ocean Triumph, Our Lass, Kiroan, Ocean Reward, and Maracestina.
Thursday was a small landing with only five trawlers landing a total of 2864 boxes of white fish which sold at Haddock Large £2.60-£3.00. Medium £2.60-£3.00, Cod large £2.70-£3.80, medium £2.25-£3.00, Lemon Sole £1.10-£5.00, Whiting £1.40-£2.20. Monkfish £4.20-£4.80, Megrims £2.00-£5.00, Coley £1.10-£1.50, Hake £1.50-£2.50, Plaice 60p-£1.20 and ling £1.80-£2.30.
Boats landed Ocean Bounty, Shalimar, Zenith, Content and Achieve.
The last market of the week Friday saw 14 trawlers land a total of 5204 boxes of white fish which sold at Cod Large £2.00-£3.40, Medium £2.00-£2.80, Haddock Large £2.50-£2.80, Medium £2.50-£2.80, Whiting £1.00-£2.20, Lemon Sole £1.00-£5.50, Megrims £1.20-£4.00, Monkfish£3.50-£4.50, Coley £1.00 £1.20, Plaice 60p-£2.00 , Hake £2.00-£4.00 and Ling £1.10-£2.00.
Boats landed Ocean trust, Beryl, Onward, Valhalla, Starlight, Starlight Rays, Crystal Tide, Serene, Fear Not, Our Guide, Ocean Harvest, Harvester, Constant Friend and Ocean Reaper.
At Peterhead Harbour Fish Market last week a total of 49 trawlers landed a total of 16,841 boxes of white fish. There Five Pelagic landings of Herring.
At Fraserburgh Harbour fish market last week a total of 158 vessels landed a total 4,723 boxes of white fish which sold at fair to good prices.
At Ullapool it was a very quite week with only one Scottish trawler landing 38 tonnes of white fish and two crabbers landing 17 tonnes of brown crab. The fleet was still out fishing.
At Buckie 17 Vessels landed 3,939 boxes of white fish, prawns and squid which sold for good prices.
At Pittenweem Harbour , Fife, prawn landings were reported good with good prices the market.
Next week if all goes to plan the first new Lobster fishing boat to built in the village for many years will be launched into the harbour. The boat which as been constructed by a local boat builder will named later.
