With Some Scottish pair trawlers landing together, over 10,000 boxes of white fish was landed at Peterhead Harbour fish market Scotland’s premier fishing port for the first two markets of last week September 6-7 as a full south easterly gale battered the East Coast of Scotland.
Prices were lower than some of the highest prices of the year on offer for previous week, demand for the 5015 boxes of haddock remained firm making £114-£143 per kg box.
On the first day of the week Monday 14 trawlers landed a total of 5860 boxes of white fish which sold for Cod Large £2.40-£3.50, Medium, £2.00-£2.80, Haddock Large £2.00-2.50, Medium £2.00-£2.50, Whiting £1.50-£2.00, Monkfish £3.70-£4.20, Coley £1.30-£1.60, Megrims £2.00-£7.00, Plaice 70p-£1.50, Witches £1.00-£1.50, Hake £1.50-£3.30, and Ling £1.80-£2.60.
Trawlers landed Celestial Dawn, Fairline, Ryanwood, Maracestina, Ocean Triumph, Helenus, Nordfjordr, Attain, Castlewood, Crystal River, Faithful, Harvest Hope, Prolific and Valhalla.
The follow day Tuesday 10 boats landed a total of 4895 boxes of white fish which sold for the following Cod Large £2.40-£3.50, Medium £2.00-£2.60, Haddock Medium £2.00-£2.20, Lemon Sole £1.oo-£5.00,
Whiting £1.50-£1.80, Coley £1.20-£1.50, Monkfish £3.50-£4.00, Megrims £1.00-£5.00, plaice 60p-£1.50, Hake £1.50-£3.00, Witches £1.00-£1.50 and Ling £1.60-£2.00.
Boats landed Advance, Ardent, Fear Not, Arctures, Ocean Bounty, Amity, Opportunus, Avocet, Morning Star, Fear Not (PD).
On the Wednesday 13 trawlers landed 3460 boxes of whitefish with There as no Haddock sold. Cod Large £3.00-£3.80, Medium £2.00-£3.00, Whiting £1.40-£1.80, Lemon Sole £1.50-£6.00, Coley £1.20-£1.50,
Monkfish £3.00-£3.80, No Megrims were sold, Plaice67p-£1.50, Hake £1.00-£2.00, Witches £1.00-£1.50 and Ling £1.50-£2.00.
Trawlers landed Shalimar, Content, Daisy, Summer Dawn, Sagittarius, Golden Gain, Ocean Reward, Denebula, Adorne, Golden Splendour, Serene, Ocean Venture and Karmarra.
The following day’s market Thursday saw 10 trawlers land a total of 3862 boxes of whitefish which sold at Haddock Large £2.00-£2.50, Meduim £2.00-£2.50, Cod Large £3.00-£3.80, medium £2.50-£3.00, Coley £1.10-£1.20, Whiting £1.50-£1.80, Lemon Sole £1.00-£1.20, Monkfish £3.50-£4.00.Megrims £2.00-£5.00, Plaice 70p-£1.50, Hake 75p-£1.75, Witches £1.00-£1.50 and Ling £1.40-£2.00.
Boats landed Beryl, Onward, Seagull, Benarkle, Maracestina, Sustain, Vela, Our Lass, Fruitful bough ad Moremma.
The last market of the week Friday saw 7 trawlers land a total of 2990 boxes of white fish which sold for the following Cod Large £2.50-£3.80, Medium £2.00-£3.00, Haddock Large £2.50, Medium £2.50, Whiting £1.40-£1.80, Lemon Sole £1.00-£4.00, Monkfish £3.50-£4.00, Coley £1.00-£1.20, Megrims £1.50-£4.50, Hake 70p-£1.70-Witches £1.00-£1.50, Ling £1.80-£2.30, No plaice were sold.
Boats landed Our Guide, Favonius, Atlantic Challenge, Ocean Harvest, Harvester, Fairline and Ryanwood..
At Peterhead there were 53 trawler landings of 21,070 boxes of white fish over the week. There were also 12 pelagic landings of mackerel and one of herring..
At Fraserburgh there were landings from 97 vessels with a total of 2,917 boxes of white fish with prices reported fair.
At Ullapool Harbour there was another decent week with two Scottish Trawlers landing 81 tonnes of whitefish, Four Spanish vessels taking 82 tonnes and two Scottish crabbers catching 23 tonnes of brown crabs.
At Pittenweem harbour there were fair landing of prawns with price fair.
During the Monday night and Tuesday morning of last week Fife coast was batter with high winds and huge seas. At St Monans Harbour small shell fish boats sunk and other flooded by huge waves crashing over the 40ft harbour walls.
