There were moderate supplies of whitefish which continued the demand at Peterhead Fish Market, Scotland Premier fishing port at the start of last week Monday May 16.
Large Haddock made £114-3137 Per 57kg box and medium made £103-£131 per 57kg box and Whiting made £97-£125 per 57kg box and Coley £63-£74 per 57kg box.
The first market of the week Monday 16 May Ten trawlers landed a total of 5421 boxes of white fish which sold for the following prices, Large Cod £2.00-£3.00, Medium £2.00-£2.20, Haddock Large £2.00-£2.40, Medium £2.00-£2.30, Whiting £2.00-£2.40,Round Whiting £1.70-£2.30, Lemon Sole £1.00-£7.50, Monkfish £3.50-£5.00, Coley £1.00-£1.40, Megrims £2.50-£5.30, Plaice 70p-£2.60, Hake 70p-£2.70,Witches £1.50-£3.00 and Ling £1.20-£1.60.
Trawlers Landed Opportunus, Celestial Dawn, Content, Nordfjordr, Helenus, Ocean Reward, Our Lass, Ocean Venture, Conquest and Boy Andrew.
The next Market day Tuesday saw Five trawlers land a total of 2495 boxes of whitefish selling at Haddock Large £2.00-£2.40, Medium £1.80-£2.30, Cod Large £2.50-£3.20, Medium £2.40-£3.00, Metros £1.40-£2.20, Whiting £1.70-£2.20, Round Whiting £1.10, No Lemon S ole, Monkfish £3.60-£4.00, Coley £1.10-£1.30, Megrims £2.00-£5.30, Plaice ice 65p-£2.00, hake £1.20-£2.50, Witches £2.00-£3.00 and Ling £1.10-£1.50.
Trawlers landed that day Accord, Ocean Bounty, Glenugie, Sunrise and Sagittarius.
The following day’s market Wednesday saw Ten trawlers land a total of 4385 boxes of white fish which sold at the following prices. Large Cod £2.50-£3.20, Medium £2.40-£2.80, Haddock Large £2.20-£2.50, Medium £2.20-£2.50, Metros £1.20-£2.00, Whiting £2.00-£2.60, Round Whiting £1.60-£2.00, Lemon Sole £1.40-£5.50, Monkfish £3.60-£4.00, Coley £1.10-£1.40, Megrims £2.00-£5.50, Plaice 65p-£1.60, Witches £1.00-£3.00, Hake 90p-£2.40, Witches £1.00-£3.00 and Ling £1.00-£1.30.
Trawlers landed Allegiance , Rosebloom, Boy John, Ocean Trust, Summer Dawn, Golden Gain, Golden Sceptre, Fruitful,Bough, Acorn, and Amity.
On the following day’s market Thursday saw Eight trawlers land 3799 boxes of whitefish selling at the following prices Large Cod £2.50-£3.20, Medium £2.40-£2.80, Large Haddock £2.00-£2.60, Medium £2.00-£2.40, Metros £1.00-£2.80, Whiting £1.70-£2.80, Round Whiting £1.70-£2.30, Lemon Sole £1.00-£5.00, Monkfish £3.60-£4.20, Coley £1.10-£1.40, Megrims £2.00-£5.50, Plaice withdrawn £1.40, Hake £1.00-£1.60, Witches 90p-£1.50 and Ling £1.00-£1.40.
Trawlers landed Moray Endeavour, Endurance, Crystal River, Faithful, Tranquility, Renown, Atlantic Challenged and Sardonyx.
The last market day of the week Friday saw Nine trawlers land a total of 4680 boxes of whitefish selling at Large Cod £2.50-£3.00, Medium £2.40-£2.80, Haddock Large £2.00-£2.50, Medium £1.80-£2.30, Metros £1.00-£1.40, Whiting £1.80-£2.50, Round Whiting £1.30-£2.40, Lemon Sole £1.00-£4.00, Monkfish £3.00-£4.20. Coley £1.00-£1.30, Megrims Unsold £5.00, Plaice 65p-£1.50, Hake 75p-£2.00, Witches £1.30-£2.00 and Ling £1.00-£1.30.
Trawlers landed that day Ocean Reaper, Solstice, Guardian Angell, Achieve, Venture , Ocean Harvest, Harvester, Crystal Tide and Defiant.
There were total landings from 43 trawlers for 20,829 boxes of whitefish over the week at Peterhead Harbour fish market.
At Fraserburgh there landings from 38 boats for a weekly total of 1362 boxes of white fish.
At Ullapool there was a quit week with Three Spanish liner/netter’s landing 52 tonnes of mixed white fish plus 21 tonnes of Brown Crab from Two Scottish Crabbers. The local fleet also had a fair week’s fishing with good prices.
At Buckie harbour there was only one landing of 95 boxes of whitefish, prawns and squid from the trawler Just Reward.
At Pittenweem Harbour Fife’s main fishing port there were good landings from the local prawn fleet who are working the Firth of Forth fishing grounds and at times further afield as the good prawn fishing and good weather continues.
