Moderate fish landings ensured good prices on the first two markets of last week Monday/ Tuesday March 21-22 at Peterhead Scotland’s premier fishing port when 6073 boxes of white fish were landed.
Large Cod made £137 per 57 kg box while Whiting made£91-£114 per 57kg box and Coley £68-£80 per 57kg box.
On the first market day of the week Monday Eleven trawlers landed a total of 2850 boxes of white fish which sold at the following prices. Large Cod £2.40-£3.40, Medium £2.00-£2.70, Haddock Large £2.50-£3.00, Medium £2.40-£2.80, Whiting £1.60-£2.00, Round Whiting £1.20-£1.40, Lemon Sole £1.00-£4.00, Coley £1.20-£1.60, Monkfish £3.50-£4.10, Megrims £1.00-£4.50, Plaice 70p-£1.50, Witches £1.20-£1.60, Hake £1.00-£3.00 and Ling £1.70-£1.90.
Trawlers landed Annegina, Andrea, Guardian Angell, Arcane, Demares, Celestrail Dawn, Devotion, Atlantic Challenge, Maranatha, Arkh Angell and Amity.
The next market day Tuesday saw landing of 3223 boxes of white fish from Four trawlers which sold at the following prices. Large Cod £2.00-£2.70, Medium £2.00-£2.50, Haddock Large £1.80-£2.20, Medium £1.80-£2.00, Whiting £1.70-£2.00, Round Whiting £1.30-£1.50, Lemon Sole £2.50-£4.20, Coley £1.10-£1.55, Monkfish £3.10-£4.50, Megrims £60p-£2.20, Hake £1.00-£1.50, Witches £2.00-£2.50, and Ling £1.20-£1.85.
Trawlers landed Ardent, Advance, Ocean Dawn and Courageous.
The following market day Wednesday saw Six trawlers a total of 3887 boxes of white fish which sold for the following Large Haddock £2.00-£2.50, Medium £2.00-£2,50, Cod Large £2.00-£2.80, Medium £2,00-£2.50, Whiting £1.70-£2.00, Round Whiting £1.40-£1.50, Lemon Sole £3.00-£4.00. Monkfish £4.00, Megrims £2.00-£4.00, Coley £1.35-£1.95, Witches £1.50-£2.00, Ling £1.20-£1.80. There were no Plaice or Hake Sold.
Trawlers that landed were Venturous, Golden Gain, Summer Dawn, Guardian Angell Attain and Castlewood.
On The next day Thursday Seven trawlers landed a total of 3140 boxes of whitefish which sold for the following prices Large Cod £2.00-£2.70, Medium £2.00-£2.50, Large Haddock £2.20-£2.50, Medium £2.20-£2.50, Whiting £1.70-£2.00, Round Whiting £1.10-£1.70, Lemon Sole £2.50-£6.75, Monkfish £3.50-£4.50, Megrims £2.50-£4.40, Coley £1.40-£1.55, Plaice 60p-£1.00, Ling £1.60 There were no Witches or Hake sold.
Trawlers landed Ocean Bounty, Lapwing, Crystal Tide, Budding Rose, Boy John, Rosebloom and Demares.
The last market of the week Friday Saw Six trawlers land a total of 2328 boxes of white fish which sold at Large Haddock £2.00-£ 2.50, Medium £2.00-£2.50, Cod Large £2.20-£2.80, Medium £2.00-£2.60, Whiting £1.80-£2.30, Round Whiting £1.45-£2.30, Lemon Sole £1.00-£6.00, Monkfish £3.30-£4.70, Coley £1.30-£1.65, Plaice 50p-£120, Witches £1.80-£3.70 and Ling £1.50-£1.75. There were no Megrims or Hake sold.
Trawlers landed Our Lass, Content, Constant Friend, Ocean Harvest, Tranquility and Harvester.
At Peterhead Harbour there were a total landings of 15,428 boxes of whitefish last week.
At Fraserburgh Harbour 27 trawlers landed a total of 1299 boxes of whitefish which sold for average prices.
At Ullapool Four Spanish Liner/netters landed 75 tonnes of mixed whitefish, Two Scottish Trawlers landed 101 tonnes and two Scottish Crabbers landed 23 tonnes of Brown Crabs.
At Buckie Harbour Only three boats landed a total of 143 boxes of whitefish which sold for fair prices.
At Pittenweem harbour Fife the local prawn fleet land good catches of Prawns which sold at the Pittenweem Fish Market for good prices.
Most of the local prawn fleet ate working the prawn grounds of the Firth of Forth and further at the night fishing.
At Scrabster Harbour Twelve trawlers landed a total of 5038 boxes of whitefish which sold at average prices.
