Some selections of white fish prices fell back at the start of last week with increased landings.
Better weather allowed trawlers to fish their usual tips with over 10,000 boxes of whitefish landed for the first two markets of the week January 24-25 at Peterhead harbour Scotland’s premier fishing port.
The first market of the week saw Fourteen trawlers land a total of 5756 boxes of whitefish which sold for the following prices Large Cod £2.10-£2.70, Medium £2.10-£2.60, Large Haddock £2.20-£2.50, Medium £2.20-£2.50, Whiting 80p-£1.30, Round Whiting 55p-85p, Lemon Sole £2.00-£5.00, Monkfish £2.50-£3.50, Coley £1.30-£1.50, Megrims £3.00-£6.00, Plaice 70p-£1.50, Witches £1.50-£3.00 and ling £1.50-£1.80.
Trawlers landed Tranquillity, Ardent,Adavance, Harvester, Ocean Harvest, Aurella, Amity, Solstice, Crystal River and Faithful.
The next market day saw Ten trawlers land a total of 4994 boxes of whitefish which sold at the following prices Large Haddock £1.80-£2.00, Medium £1.80-£2.00, Cod Large £1.80-£2.50, Medium £1.80-£2.40, Whiting 60p-£1.00, Round Whiting 50p-75p, Lemon Sole £2.00-£6.00, Monkfish £2.50-£3.50, Coley £1.20-£1.50, Megrims £2.00-£6.00, Plaice 70p-£1.50, Witches £1.50-£3.00 and Ling £1.30-£1.60.
Trawlers landed Castlewood, Attain, Heather Sprig, Ardent, Advance, Helenus, Favonius, Nordfjordr, Russa Taign Opportune (WK)
The following market day Wednesday Twelve trawlers landed 4038 boxes of whitefish which sold at market for the following prices Large Cod £1.80-£2.50, Medium £1.70-£2.40, Haddock Large £2.00-£220, Medium £1.80-£2.20, Whiting 70p-£1.20, Round Whiting 70p-80p, Lemon Sole £2.00-£6.00, Coley £1.20-£3.50, Monkfish £2.20-33.50, Megrims £2,00-£6.00, Plaice 70p-£1.50, Witches £1.00-£2.00 and Ling £1.30-£1.60.
Trawlers landed Golden Gain, Summer Dawn, Boy John, Rosebloom, Sagittarius, Demares, Ocean Trust, Radiant Star, Elegance, Opportune (WK).
Thursday market saw eight trawlers land a total of 3690 boxes of white fish which at the following prices Large Cod £2.00-£2.90, Medium £1.80-£2.50, Haddock Large £2.20-£2.50, Medium £1.80-£2.20, Whiting £1.00-£1.30, Round Whiting 50p-70p, Coley £1.25-£1.50, Lemon Sole £2.00-£5.00, Monkfish £3.50-£3.50, Megrims £4.00-£6.00, Plaice 60p-£1.00, Witches £1.50-£3.00 and Ling £1.50.
Boats landed Fairline, Guardian Angell, Boy Andrew, Acorn, Strathelliot, Karenann, Starlight Rays and Starlight.
The last market day of the week Friday saw Seven trawlers land a total of 2575 boxes of whitefish which sold at Cod Large £2.00-£2.80, Medium £1.80-£2.40, No Large Haddock, Haddock Medium £2.00-£2.40, Whiting 70p-£1.40, Round Whiting 80p-£1.15, Lemon Sole £2.00-£4.00, Monkfish £2.50-£3.50, Megrims £3.00-£5.80, Plaice 60p-£1.00, Witches £1.00-£2.00 and Ling £1.50-£1.60.
Trawlers landed Glenugie, Faithful Bough, Valhalla, Achieve, Minerva, Ocean Harvest and Harvester.
At Peterhead Harbour there were landings from 51 trawlers totalling 21,323 boxes of whitefish. There were also Seven pelagic landings of mackerel.
At Fraserburgh Harbour there were landings from 48 trawlers over the week totalled 4,367 boxes of whitefish which sold for good prices.
At Ullapool harbour it was quite week with one Scottish Trawlers landing 44 tonnes of mixed whitefish, and two Spanish liner/netters landing 38 tonnes. A pair of Scottish crabbers landed 14 tonnes of brown crab.
At Pittenweem Harbour Fife the local prawn had a good week and all their catches sold for fair prices. Most of the local prawn fleet are fishing through the night in the Firth of Forth.
