Whitefish prices. Mainly for Cod were good at the beginning of last week as vessels began to tie up for the annual festive break after landing their last trips of the year.
After over 7000 boxes were sold on Monday and Tuesday 13-14 of December the first two days of market at Peterhead Scotland’s premier fishing port.
The first market of the week Monday 13 December saw Fifteen trawlers land 5667 boxes of white fish which sold for the following Cod Large £2.50-£3.00, Medium £2,30-£2.90, Haddock Large £1,70-£2.00, Medium £1.70-£2.00, Whiting £1.00-£1.50, Round Whiting 80p-£1.00, Lemon Sole £1.00-£4.00, Monkfish £3.80-£4.50, Coley 90p-£1.10, Megrims £2.00-£5.00, Hake £1.00-£.3.00, Plaice 60p-£1.00, Witches £1.00-£1.50 and Ling £1.00.
Trawlers landed Renown, Tranquillity, Arcane, Courageous, Ocean Dawn, Opportunus, Ocean Harvest, Harvester, Golden Gain, Summer Dawn, Ocean Venture, Accord (BCK) Guardian Angell, Viking Monarch and Just Reward.
The following day Tuesday Five trawlers landed a total of 1557 boxes of white fish selling at market for the following prices Cod Large £2.50-£3.30, Medium £2.50-£2.75, Haddock Medium £2.50-£3.00, Round Haddock £1.00-£1.10, Whiting £1.30-£1.40, Round Whiting £1.10-£1.20, Monkfish £3.40-£4.80, Coley £1.00-£1.25, Megrims £2.00-£5.00, Hake £1.70-£3.00, Witches £2.00-£2.50-Ling £1.00-£1.10 and Squid £3.00-£4.00.
Boats Landed Valhalla, Ryanwood, Adrone, Crystal River and Faithful.
On the following day Wednesday Ten trawlers landed a total of 4833 boxes of whitefish selling at Large Cod £2.40-£3.20, Medium £2.40-£2.80, Large Haddock £2.00-£2.50, Medium £2.00-£2.50, Whiting £1.00-£1.10, Monkfish £4.00-£5.20, Coley 75p-£1.20, Megrims £2.50-£4.00, Hake £1.00-£4.00 Witches £1.50-£2.20, and Ling £1.00 £1.20.
Trawlers landed Aalskere, Golden Sceptre, Benarkle, Arcturus, Rosemount, Tranquillity, Arcane, Sustain, Vela and Demares.
On the Thursday Nineteen Trawlers landed a total 6212 boxes of whitefish which sold for the following Large Cod £2.50- £3.60, Medium £2.20-£2.80, Haddock Large £2.20, Medium £1.60-£2.20, Whiting £1.20-£1.40, Round Haddock 80p-95p, Lemon Sole £1.50-£6.00, Monkfish £2.00-£5.00, Megrims £2.00-£5.00, Plaice 70p-£1.50, Hake £1.00-£3.00, Witches £1.00-£2.00, and Ling £1.00-£1.20.
Trawlers landed Caspian, Harvest Hope, Starlight Rays, Starlight, Artemis, Shalimar (PD) Arkh Angell, Ocean Bounty, Arcane, Fruitful Bough, Crystal River, Faithful, Ocean Venture, Serene, Constant Friend, Ocean trust, Sagittarius, Favonius and Ocean Reaper.
The last market of the week Friday saw Eleven trawlers land a total of 4372 boxes of white fish which sold at the following Haddock Large £2.00-£2.50, Medium £2.00-£2.50, Cod Large £2.50-£3.30, Medium £2.00- £2.30, Metros £1.00-£1.40, Whiting £1.00-£1.40, Round Whiting 80p-£1.40, Lemon Sole £1.50-£6.00, Coley 70p-90p, Monkfish £4.00-£5.50, Megrims £2.00-£5.00, Plaice 70p-£1.50, Witches £1.00-£2.00 Hake £1.00-£3.00 and Ling £1.oo-£1.20.
Boats Landed Our Lass, Daisy, Avocet, Tranquillity Morey Endeavour, Budding Rose, Lapwing, Norlantean, Rose Bloom, Boy John, Heather Sprig, and Solstice.
At Fraserburgh for the week there were 64 boat landings of 2079 boxes of white fish which sold for fair prices.
At Ullapool there was another decent week with One Scottish whitefish trawler landing 61 tonnes of moored white fish, while two Scottish crabbers landed a total of 18 tonnes of brown crab. Five Spanish liner/netters landed 95 tonnes of mixed whitefish.
At Buckie Harbour Five boats landed 127 boxes of white fish prawns and squid and 421 bogs of clams all selling for good prices.
At Pittenweem harbour the local prawn fleet had good landings which sold for good prices.
The weekend the whole of Scotland is under heavy snow.
