Total catch of Icelandic vessels in October 2011 was 77,063 tonnes compared to 83,870 tonnes in October 2010
Demersal species accounted for about 37 thousand tonnes, thereof cod nearly 18 thousand tonnes, haddock nearly 5 thousand tonnes, redfish 6 thousand tonnes and saithe nearly 5 thousand tonnes. The pelagic catch was nearly 37 thousand tonnes, thereof herring 32 thousand tonnes and herring 2 thousand tonnes.
At constant prices the volume of the catch decreased by 4.7% in October 2011 compared with October 2010. In the first ten months of 2011 the value of catch increased by 0.4% compared with the same time-period in 2010.
