At constant prices, the volume of the catch of Icelandic vessels decreased by 13.2% in November 2009 compared with November 2008. In the first ten months of 2009 the volume has increased by 3.9 % compared to the same period the previous year.
Total catch of Icelandic vessels in November 2009 was 85,690 tonnes compared to 117,837 tonnes in November 2008. Demersal species accounted for 38 thousand tonnes, thereof cod 16 thousand tonnes, haddock 5 thousand tonnes, saithe 6 thousand tonnes and redfish 4 thousand tonnes. Total catch of pelagic species accounted for 45 thousand tonnes, which was nearly only herring.
