Total catch of Icelandic vessels in January 2010 was 55,445 tonnes compared to 71,520 tonnes in January 2009. Demersal species accounted for 31 thousand tonnes, thereof cod 17 thousand tonnes, haddock 5 thousand tonnes, redfish 2 thousand tonnes and saithe 3 thousand tonnes. The herring catch was 6 thousand tonnes and the blue whiting catch was 5 thousand tonnes.
At constant prices the volume of the catch decreased by 8.9% in January 2010 compared with January 2009.
