Total catch of Icelandic vessels in April 2010 was 79,680 tonnes compared to 99,267 tonnes in April 2009. Demersal species accounted for 35 thousand tonnes, thereof cod 13 thousand tonnes, haddock 5 thousand tonnes, redfish nearly 7 thousand tonnes and saithe nearly 4 thousand tonnes. The pelagic catch was 41 thousand tonnes, nearly all blue whiting.
At constant prices the volume of the catch decreased by 16.5% in April 2010 compared with April 2009.
