Under 2nd Coxswain John G Moriarty, Fenit Lifeboat crew, which included Medical lifeboat advisor Dr Tom McCormack arrived at the location just before midnight. Conditions were quite good en route but there was a swell of approx 4 metres at the transfer location. This coupled with the fact that it was a large trawler (145 metres in lenght) made transferring the casualty from the trawler to the Lifeboat very challenging. With this manoeuvre successfully completed and the injured man being attended to by the Dr. McCormack Fenit Lifeboat headed back to shore.
On arrival at Fenit just after 4am on Sunday morning the injured man, who is from Killybegs in Co Donegal, was transferred by ambulance to Kerry General Hospital.
