Knowledge about the feed content is necessary in order to implement good risk assessment related to farmed fish, which in Norway still is mainly salmonids. The feed surveillance programme is relatively broad, yet it emphasise on analysing substances of significance to the seafood safety. The presence of illegal feed materials, additives, pathogenic bacteria, fungus, pesticides, dioxins, PCB and several metals is characterised. Overall, 470 samples were analysed in 2007. Results from 2007 shows an over all good microbiological quality. In addition, no analysis of other substances exceeded the EU`s upper limit where these are set, with two exceptions: for mercury 1 of 22 analysed samples, and for total arsenic 2 of 22 analysed samples exceeded EU’s upper limit
