The Faroese pelagic fleet has now caught all of its 2016 quotas, and Vónin trawl gear featured heavily in the fleet’s catching patterns this year.
According to the company, the majority of the Faroese mackerel and Atlanto-Scandian herring quotas in international waters were caught using Vóin trawl gear, mainly using Vónin’s new Capto trawls.
Pelagic vessels Norðborg and Næraberg have both been using 1728 metre hex trawls delivered new this year, while Finnur Fríði, Tróndur í Gøtu and Jupiter have all been fishing with 1856 metre hex Capto trawls.
‘All these customers are very satisfied with the new trawls. In the beginning of the season most of the trawling goes on in the surface while it eventually goes down on 100-300 metres,’ said Jógvan S Jacobsen of Vónin’s pelagic division.
‘The Vónin trawls are very flexible for this purpose and the very large belly makes it possible to catch very big quantities in a short time, resulting in very high quality catches.’
