According to the press communiqué the International Seafood Sustainability Foundation (ISSF) Board of Directors has appointed well-respected fisheries scientists Robin Allen and Laurent Dagorn to sit on the ISSF Science Advisory Committee. ISSF President Susan Jackson informed that ISSF holds a strong commitment to science-based initiatives and that means we must maintain a distinguished Science Advisory Committee.
It is told that Robin Allen holds a PhD from the University of British Columbia and was retired from the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC) in 2007 and currently serves as the Executive Secretary of the Interim Secretariat for the International Consultations on the establishment of the proposed South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organization.
Laurent Dagorn, a PhD in Fisheries Science, is currently a senior scientist working for the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (France). His focus is on fish aggregating devices (FADs) with a special emphasis on the behavior of fish. As per Jackson comment each member of the Science Advisory Committee brings a wealth of knowledge, both shared and unique, along with a valuable focus on a specific ocean region.
