The fifteenth fish industry exhibition in Bremen is set to take place from Sunday 14th to Tuesday 16th of February and has grown this year to 270 exhibitors from 22 nations taking part in Messe Bremen.
‘Interest in Germany’s only trade fair for fish and seafood has grown noticeably,’ commented a pleased Sabine Wedell, project manager at Messe Bremen. The number of exhibitors is up by 40 compared to the 2014 event and the Netherlands is the largest national group with 28 exhibitors, followed by 20 in the Spanish group.
A new feature this year is the Smoke House where experts like Ralf Harms (chef at the marine fish cooking studio in Bremerhaven) or the shooting star of the street food scene, Michael Wickert from Berlin (Glut & Späne), will present innovative recipes and product applications using smoked fish.
‘The young, hip cuisine is already on its way from the street into the restaurant,’ Sabine Wedell said.
Special features at the Smoke House include the opportunity to taste salmon from Polish company Jurassic Salmon’s land based farming facility, the first company worldwide to produce Atlantic salmon in a recirculating system using geothermal saline water.
‘We will not only present the latest technologies but also showcase expert knowledge”, promised Sabine Wedell. Several workshops will focus on topics such as opportunities and challenges of the market as well as important aspects for increasing efficiency and quality.
Sustainable fishing is one of the work areas of seven scientific institutes that will be in Bremen with their own information desks. For the scientists employed there, fish international is an important meeting place for presenting projects in the fish industry and finding partners there.
