This June, when the TripleNine Group A/S becomes a fact of life, it is the result of a merger between TripleNine A/S and Norwegian Vedde AS of which the latter formerly was fully-owned by the Norwegian family-owned Koppernæs Gruppen AS.
Hence, it was only natural that all the members of the family and others from the Koppernæs Gruppen management visited their new business partner, TripleNine, in Denmark.
The group visited TripleNine in Esbjerg and the factory in Thyborøn where Plant Manager Lars Skøtt Nielsen showed the guests around. The guests also found time to visit the brand new Cattleya, E 349, where Skipper Flemming Pedersen received the guests.
The Cattleya is 69.9 m long, 14.2 m wide and has a tonnage of 2,020 GT. And, naturally, the ultra modern trawler is equipped with all the latest with regards to technology, fish sorting systems and freezing of fish in brine to name a few examples.
Diversification and Flexibility
In Thyborøn, Chairman of the Board Hans Peter Koppernæs was available for a little chat.
He said that to Koppernæs Gruppen, it was first and foremost the opportunity to ensure continued research and product development that motivated the Norwegian group to merge with TripleNine.
– Our industry is developing as we speak, and it is essential that we stay dynamic and ready to develop and introduce product enhancements, e.g. within human production, Hans Peter Koppernæs said.
Diversification
– Also, we must constantly focus on diversification, both in terms of production facilities and species of fish.
– We need to have production facilities at various locations with access to raw materials. Fishing provisions are constantly changing in the various geographical locations and we need to be able to procure adequate amounts of raw materials for our production at all times.
– The nature of the raw materials also vary from year to year. A fish population may be large one year and limited the next. So, we need to be flexible in order to process various species of fish at our production facilities seamlessly.
– Only with this diversification mindset will we be able to remain competitive, Hans Peter Koppernæs declared.
Flexibility
He continued: – In Koppernæs Gruppen, we’re used to this mindset. As we already own a production company in Lota in Chile which now becomes part of the TripleNine Group, we have been forced to adapt to Norwegian as well as Latin American rules and norms.
To ensure the supply of raw materials, Koppernæs Gruppen is also involved in fishing companies in Chile and Norway where different rules apply – also in this area.
– We have adapted to it, the Chairman said.
– So, I have confidence that the defining key words for our future partnership in the TripleNine Group will be diversification and flexibility.
And the Actual Work Begins
With our friends at TripleNine, we have completed the administrative work surrounding the merger and the collaboration between our two companies which becomes a fact of life in early June.
It is my hope that the actual collaboration which involves all employees and external partners will settle completely over the summer, Hans Peter Koppernæs added.
