Two new stern trawlers were launched yesterday at the Huanghai shipyard at Rongcheng in China for Icelandic owners.
Breki, being built for Vinnslustöðinn í Vestmannaeyjum (VSV) and Páll Pálsson, built for Hraðfrýstihús Gunnvör, were both launched in China yesterday, ready for further fitting out to take place. Designed by Skipasýn, the two new trawlers are being built to a 50.70 metre LOA designed, with a beam of 12.80 metres and fishroom capacity for 525 x 460 litre tubs.
Breki and Páll Pálsson are each fitted with a 2040kW main engine turning a 4700mm propeller, able to provide a 14 knot top speed as well as a 48 tonne bollard pull at at 1750kW, as well as a 1300kW shaft generator and a 200kW bow thruster. All of the winches are electric, with three 30-tonne pull main trawl winches.
Delivery of the two new trawlers is scheduled for later this year.
