There is a sharp rumour flooded in the air that ASP Holdings, a high-profile Bundaberg commercial fishing company, is going to shut down. Report states that
Seth Parker from ASP holdings discusses the problems that he faces after the floods with MP Paul Neville and MP John Cobb. Scottie Simmonds, the owner of the company, was not present to comment.
Media report says that the Quay St offices were closed and the gates locked. The workers immediately began to close the business’s gates. A company search revealed ASP Holdings’ registered office as the premises of Redcliffe accountants Paton R W & Co. A number of people who had dealings with the company either declined to comment or said they had not seen Parker in recent weeks.
The report said that ASP Holdings owes money to some local businesses, including Midtown Marinas. ASP Holdings sustained losses of almost $1 million in damage during the Christmas floods and was only eligible for a $250,000 grant to help with the flood recovery.
