A record-breaking number of exhibitors are taking part in this year’s Skipper Expo in Aberdeen, which opens tomorrow and takes place over Friday and Saturday.
According to Sharon Boyle of organising company Mara Media, there has been exceptional interest from abroad, with companies from Canada, Denmark, Faroe Islands, France, Iceland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the USA taking part.
A surge of confidence within the Scottish industry, including new boat building activity, has been behind much of the interest in this year’s event, she said.
‘Bookings for stand space have been quite phenomenal this year and it is heartening to see so much confidence within the Scottish fishing industry,’ she said. ‘This is also very much turning into a pan-European expo with a large number of exhibitors attending from abroad.’
The Skipper Expo Int. Aberdeen 2016 is held at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on 27 and 28 May. Opening times 10am to 5pm on 27 May, and 10am to 4pm on Saturday 28 May.
