The Maine Fishermen’s Forum is the largest event of its kind in New England – one dedicated to offering fishermen, clammers, lobstermen, aquaculturalists and other related seafood industry participants an opportunity to meet on neutral ground with fisheries managers, state representatives, Congressmen and Senators. In addition, there are family programs, a Trade Show, a Seafood Reception highlighting Maine’s seafood, a Banquet/Dance on the last night, as well as a benefit auction to raise money for kids from seafood families.
This year’s Thursday Seminar is entitled “Economic Survival – Back to the Basics.” In these tough economic times, the focus is on how to make the best of what fishermen have, how to modify fishermens approach to get the highest return for their effort and a sharing of ideas between fishermen of their approach to survival. There will also be an opportunity to view gear involved in whale entanglement.
This year The Maine Fishermen’s Forum are introducing the “Decompression Chamber” – an opportunity for old friends to visit, impromptu jam sessions, Maine videos, historical presentations – over all, pure enjoyment!
