The Lerwick-based Zephyr Fishing Company has signed a contract with Larsnes Mekansiske Verksted for a new pelagic vessel to be built to a Skipsteknisk ST-125 design.

Thew new 75.40 metre LOA by 15 metre beam pelagic trawler will be built at Larsnes Mek Verksted’s partner yard in Poland and brought to Larsnes for fitting out, with a delivery date for the finished vessel scheduled for the summer of 2019.

The new trawler is designed by Skipsteknisk in co-operation with the owners and this will be the third Skipsteknisk build for Zephyr. The contract was signed earlier this month in Lerwick.

According to the Ålesund naval architect, the customer is expected to stick with the same suppliers as for previous vessels and an speed of around 17 knots is expected.

‘The cooling system for fish and associated pumping systems are designed for quick and efficient cooling and smooth handling of fish, ensuring premium quality and efficient handling with minimal product damage,’ a Skipsteknisk spokesman said.
