Hvide Sande shipyard Vestværft has signed a contract with Norwegian company Knut Olav AS of Sørvågen for a new purse seiner/seine netter.
Scheduled to be delivered in the third quarter of 2018, the contract for the new Knut Olav has been brokered by Maritime Competence AS. The boat is to be built to a Vestværft design with a 34.85 metre LOA and a beam of 9.60 metres. Accommodation is for a crew of eight in seven cabins.
The new Knut Olav is designed to operate as a purse seiner and seine netter with two net bins and combination winches. The boat is designed to have 400 cubic metres of RSW capacity in six tanks, opening the way for landings of live fish, as well as main deck laid out for handling whitefish.
