Killybegs fishing company Atlantic Dawn Group has ordered a pair of new fishing vessels, designed by Salt Ship Design in Norway and to be built at the Cemre Shipyard in Turkey.
According to Salt Ship Design, they will supply the complete design and engineering package for the two trawlers, which measure 64 metres overall with a 14 metre beam.
The design has been finalised with Atlantic Dawn working closely with Salt’s designers to develop vessels tailored for the company’s quotas and areas of operation.
‘This has resulted in very effective and modern fishing vessels,’ a spokesman for Salt Ship Design said. ‘This represents a very important contract, adding to an already strong orderbook.’
Salt has currently 17 vessel designs under construction at shipyards in Norway and elsewhere.
‘Unlike the current offshore market, fisheries and fish farming are doing very well and these segments represents an important market for Salt,’ the company said.
