Stadyard at Måløy I Norway has signed a contract with Kenfish II AS in Averøy for a new combined gillnetter/autoliner. The new vessel is a 20.99m overall, 10m beam Seacon design, the yard’s newbuild no 40, and is due for delivery in June next year.

The new Max is the 19th Seacon newbuild, and the fifth Seacon-designed vessel to be built at Stadyard/Blaalid in Raudeberg. The SC21-design is the result of a comprehensive feasibility study together with the owner and the shipyard, with a heavy focus on quality and fish processing, as well as a strong emphasis on safety and comfort for the crew

‘Seacon has for several years been developing new concepts for this type of vessel, and that has many similarities with larger coastal vessels Seacon previously designed. This contract is another confirmation of Seacon’s leading position in fishing vessel design”, said Seacon’s CEO Rune Stian Nybakk.

‘We are very pleased to have been part of developing this vessel together with the ship owner and Seacon,’ commented Agnar Lyng at Stadyard.

‘This new contract is a result of positive feedback on the projects we have carried out, and the market’s confidence that we deliver quality products of the highest class.

This is the fourth newbuild contract Stadyard has signed since the takeover of Blaalid in 2012.

Max is to be fitted out for gillnetting and longlining, with a 60,000 hook Mustad Longline system and Netop net handling gear

The main engine will be a Yanmar 6EY17W with a Finnøy gear and propeller. Auxiliary engines are Baudouin 6W126S units and the side thrusters and hydraulic systems are being supplied by MB Hydraulikk AS.

A CO2 freezing system is coming from Nilsen Kulde AS.

Max is designed to have a 190 cubic metre fishroom, 70 cubic metres of fuel tank capacity and accommodation for ten persons is four double and two single cabins.
