The First Minister and Fisheries Secretary met with fishing leaders today (February 11), to discuss shared priorities for the Scottish fleet.

The Scottish Pelagic Sustainability Group (SPSG) has entered its West of Scotland herring pelagic trawl fishery into MSC assessment. If the fishery is successful, it will mean that all of the SPSG’s key landings will be MSC certified.

The Scottish Fishermen’s Federation will be calling for a new vision for Scottish fishing when they meet with First Minister Alex Salmond and Cabinet Secretary for Fisheries Richard Lochhead in Aberdeen tomorrow (11 February).
