EUFA welcomes draft guidelines on future trade agreement

The European Fisheries Alliance (EUFA) has welcomed the draft guidelines presented by European Council President Donald Tusk. The commitment by the European Union to maintaining current access to waters and resources and to conduct negotiations on fisheries in the context of a wider trade agreement is an important step towards a balanced and mutually beneficial post-Brexit agreement on fisheries.

Nightmare scenario for world’s oceans by 2300, UCI study finds

Scientists at University of California, Irvine predict that the world’s fisheries will be, on average, 20% less productive in the year 2300, with those in the North Atlantic down nearly 60% and those in much of the western Pacific experiencing declines of more than 50% as warming-induced plankton growth near Antarctica will impair the marine food chain.
