Seaquest Systems in Killybegs has secured a significant contract to supply the deck systems for a pair new 28-metre fishing vessels ordered by the partnership of Lockers Trawlers and UK Fisheries.
These innovative pair seine/trawlers are expected to be delivered in 2027 by Parkol Marine Engineering.
‘We are thrilled to collaborate with Parkol Marine and the vessel owners on this ground breaking project,’ Seaquest Systems states.
‘This order reflects confidence in our ability to deliver reliable, innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of the fishing industry.’
Each of the two vessels is to be outfitted with a pair of 29-tonne pair seine winches, which come with computer-controlled spooling to cope with a range of wire/rope diameters and an autotrawl, enabling easy switching between trawling and seine fishing operations, plus Seaquest’s proprietary 3-speed winch drive for seamless freewheel shooting during pair seine operations.
The packages for each vessel include a pair of net drums and bagging winches, as well a gilson winch, a knuckleboom crane and a travelling gantry, plus a BV-certified mooring and anchor winch.
Seaquest Systems is also supplying a load-sensing hydraulic system, driven by a PTO and with twin 45kW electro-hydraulic units to minimise power consumption during towing, hauling, and discharging. Guide pins and stern door cylinders with deck controls are also part of a broad package designed with a focus on energy efficiency
‘Our technology not only enhances operational efficiency but also supports sustainable practices – a priority for modern fleets,’ a Seaquest Systems representative commented.
