Vinnslustöðin (VSV) is reported to be working with naval architect Skipasýn on the designs of two possible new vessels, with plans to replace netter Kap and trawler Drangavík.
Although the 29-metre and 40-metre newbuilds are still under consideration, work is already in progress at the Slippurinn yard in Akureyri to develop an automated catch transport and fishroom system for the proposed 29-metre trawler.
‘The co-operation with VSV and Skipasýn has been very good and it’s great for us to be involved at the initial design stage. Signing the contract for this development is a logical next step following the preparatory work we have been doing on this recently,’ said DNG Slippurinn Akureyri’s Magnús Blöndal.
The system is intended to provide the best possible catch handling. In addition to the fishroom installation, DNG Slippurinn will be supplying the new vessel’s catch handling deck.
