‘We’re on target and aim to have the factory ready for production on the 10th of February. In fact, we believe this is vital as are putting all our trust in the capelin research to find enough to be able to set a quota. Our schedule is for the factory to be ready to run as soon as the capelin season starts,’ said Sveinbjörn Sigmundsson, HB Grandi’s Vopnafjördur factory manager.
It’s safe to say that the Vopnafjördur fishmeal factory is practically ready to start work and according to Sveinbjörn Sigmundsson, the most pressing tasks are now to connect electrical power to the pumps and other factory equipment, and this is already in progress.
He said that all of the discharging systems are ready and most of the equipment needed for shipping out finished product is there and is already being installed.
‘We are optimistic that all this will be finished in the coming three weeks. There is a team of 50 working on this, but I still get the feeling sometimes that we could use a few more,’ Sveinbjörn Sigmundsson said.
