Electronics specialist Alphatron Marine South is to supply complete navigation and communications setups for three new beam trawlers under construction for Belgian owners.
The last new beamer built to operate under the Belgian flag was back in 2002, but now three are being built – two by Padmos in Stellendam and one at the Hoekman Shipbuilding yard in Urk. The trio have been designed for a 21st century take on beam trawling, optimised for efficient fuel consumption, safety, comfort and catch quality.
‘To be able to participate in this is a fantastic challenge for our office,’ said Alphatron Marine South sales manager Ben Schot.
‘Because we have been committed to fishing for years, these are the assignments we live for. The principles of the yard seamlessly match those of Alphatron Marine.’
Alphatron Marine South will supply these new fishing vessels with complete navigation and communication systems, including the new JMR-5400 radar. This powerful radar has a user-friendly operating system and is equipped with specially designed software for fishing. This makes this radar unique in its kind and will certainly provide the right support for today’s fishing.
In addition, the latest JMA-3400 radar, Dual AlphaSeapilot MFC, Dual JRC JLR-21 GPS Compass, renewed AlphaCam CCTV system and a complete VSAT / TVRO solution will be installed on Z-483 and Z-39 which are being built at Padmos and Z-98 which will be delivered by Hoekman.
