Factory trawler Emerald, designed by Skipsteknisk for Faroese company Havborg, has been floated off at the Tersan yard in Turkey.
The 87.50 metre LOA, 18 metre beam, ST-119 design trawler is to be built as a triple-rigger, with options for upgrading the deck equipment with a fifth trawl winch at a later date if required.
Laid out as a filleter, Emerald will also have a shrimp processing line and a fishmeal and oil plant. The 2250 cubic metre fishroom can hold roughly 1000 tonnes of frozen production.
Accommodation is for a crew of up to 40 and delivery of the completed vessel is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year.
‘We are pleased and proud to have the chance to work together with Havborg for this significant project,’ said Tersan managing director Mehmet Gazioğlu.
‘This vessel is very important for our shipyard and country because we know this will be one of the leading vessels equipped with the latest technologies for a new generation of the Arctic fishing industry.’
