Keel laid for first of factory trawler series

The Northern Shipyard (Severnaya Verf) in St Petersburg has formally laid the keel of the lead vessel in a series of six for Russian fishing company Rybprominvest JSC, part of the Norebo Group. With its innovative layout, the new trawler is designed to have capacity for 1200 tonnes of frozen products, 334 tonnes of fishmeal and 95 tonnes of canned production.

Maaskant bids farewell to director Frits van Dongen

A very familiar figure to the Dutch and UK fishing industries in particular, Frits van Dongen has retired after a forty-year career at the Maaskant Shipyard in Stellendam, and at a 70th birthday party for the yard held at the yard last weekend, friends, staff and many customers gathered to wish him well, and to welcome new director Eric Moerkerk.

New UK beamer is Luyt yard’s largest contract

The Machinefabriek Luyt yard at Den Oever has been contracted to deliver a new 35.25 metre beam trawler for UK company Waterdance. The keel of the new trawler is due to be laid at the Ibis yard in Holland at the beginning of September and the completed hull is scheduled to be delivered next spring to Den Oever for fitting out.
