The Skipper Expo Int. Aberdeen 2019 which took place on Friday and Saturday remained busy right up to the last minute of the event’s second day. Sponsored by the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation, the exhibition was the latest in this series of Mara Media’s highly successful exhibitions held in Aberdeen.
Scottish Fisheries Secretary Fergus Ewing toured the exhibition and described it as a ‘great showcase’ for the fishing industry.
‘The show organiser, Mara Media, have done a terrific job in organising the event and it is fantastic that there are more companies exhibiting here than ever before,’ Fergus Ewing said as he opened the event on Friday morning.
Highlights included the popular seafood tasting bar hosted by Boxpool Solutions and safety demos from the RNLI, and with record first-day visitor numbers and over 230 exhibitors covering virtually every equipment and support services for the fishing industry, this proved a great place to do business.
Among the successful companies was MMG Welding, who enjoyed a flying start to the show through the successful first sale of their new patent product, the Vessel to Vessel Gangway, which was purchased by Donal and Alan O’Neill of the Sparkling Star based in Castletownbere.
‘We have had huge interest in our new product and the show has been a great way to promote our compact gangway systems,’ said Eibhlin McGuinness of MMG Welding.
Among the orders signed at the show was a hydraulic package from BOPP for the new Russa Taign that will shortly be under construction at the Vestvaerftet shipyard for Thomas, Peter and Paul Harcus.
‘We are thrilled at how busy this first day has been and the positive feedback from both exhibitors and visitors. This is an event that has really captured the support of the fishing industry,’ said Sharon Boyle of Mara Media.
