There are just a few days until the Scottish Skipper Expo opens its doors at the P & J Live Aberdeen for what promises to be the largest and most comprehensive show so far.
This is the twelfth Scottish Skipper Expo, and they get bigger and better every year – and this year’s event breaks a few records, not least in having no less than seven vessels on display inside the exhibition hall.
G Smyth Boats in Kilkeel has been putting finishing touches to catamaran crabber Keila which will be on show, and this is the first of the yard’s Maxus Fast Cats to feature twin inboard engines.
‘We have a fantastic line-up,’ said show organiser Sharon Boyle.
‘There’s everything from creels to trawls, electronics, vessels on display, deck machinery, refrigeration, hatches, engines, propellors, fish bins, safety wear, the return of the Seafood Tasters and much much more.’
There are also changes to the exhibition itself, with a shift to a Thursday-Friday event, providing visitors and exhibitors with more travel options and enabling them to get home for the weekend.
‘With four other industry shows taking place later in May, it gives exhibitors more time to relax and prepare for their next event. As well as that, it opens more travel options with more flights scheduled during the week which will also cater for visitors planning day trips to the show from around the UK and Europe,’ Sharon Boyle added.
There’s also a revamped exhibition layout, designed to maximise the visibility of each stand, and this also made it possible to display more boats – always a focal point of the event.
‘We’re also delighted to announce the return of the Seafood Tasters, giving visitors and exhibitors opportunities to sample seasonal seafood delights, showcasing the prime produce the industry has to offer,’ she said, and stressed that the chnages that have been made to the Scottish Skipper Expo have been made following in-depth consultation with visitors and exhibitors – and these changes include a switch to a bi-annual event.
‘So the next Scottish Skipper Expo is going to be in 2026, and we are already registering interest from companies wanting to exhibit in Aberdeen in two years’ time,’ Sharon Boyle said.
The Scottish Skipper Expo 2024 takes place at the P & J Live Aberdeen 9-10th May. Visitor Pre-Registration is live – save yourself time on the day and collect your badge on arrival.
