Icelandic fishing and processing company Síldarvinnslan has reached an agreement with Bremesco Holding Limited and a group of shareholders to acquire a 34,2% holding in Arctic Fish Holding.
The purchase price is NoK1.089.968.400, which Síldarvinnslan will finance with loans.
Arctic Fish Holding AS owns 100% of Arctic Fish, one of the largest fish farming operations in Iceland with sites in the Westfjords and licences for 27,000 tonnes of sea production.
‘Salmon farming is a rapidly growing sector and we have been watching it carefully for some years. Increasing investment and expertise has been coming into this industry in recent years and we consider there are big opportunities here,’ said Síldarvinnslan CEO Gunnthór Ingvason.
‘We are acquiring a third of Arctic Fish Holding AS, which is mainly in the ownership of a Norwegian entity with significant expertise and experience. We welcome the opportunity to work with them. The company has big ambitions and has been going through a period of growth. We see this as an opportunity for increased co-operation among aquaculture producers in this area.’
