Faroese fishing company Framherji has agreed to by Shetland pelagic trawler Serene, but won’t take delivery until 2026 when its replacement is ready to start fishing.
Serene was built in 2018 at Karstensens Skibsværft in Denmark for its Shetland owners. By 2026 it will be just eight years old when it joins the Framherji fleet and is expected to replace Fagraberg, which was built in 1999.
Serene has a 10,000hp MAN main engine with not a great deal of running time behind it. It measures 82 metres with a 17-metre beam, and has a carying capacity of around 3000 tonnes in RSW.
Framherji already has a new pelagic vessel under construction, and the new Høgaberg is now close to completion at the Karstensen yard.
