The first in a series of small seine netters designed to fish for Pacific cod and Alaska pollock has been delivered to the VI Lenin Collective Farm in Russia’s Far East.
Apacha is the first fishing vessel to be built in Kamchatka under the Russian government’s investment quotas programme.
The order for this series of 26.45-metre, 8-metre beam seine netters was placed in 2020 and Apacha’s keel was laid in mid-2021. The new vessel is expected to start fishing this month.
Apacha has a 441kW main engine and has a 90 cubic metre fishroom. It is expected to work with a crew of seven.
Construction of the first of the Project 04130 Nelma-type vessels was carried out by the Torsiotest shipyard in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Three more of the series of six are expected to be delivered this year, with two more scheduled for 2025.
