Norwegian wellboat operator Intership has christened the second of its two new vessels built at Zamakona Yards. Inter Scotia has a 2500 cubic metre capacity and is a Salt design with hybrid battery propulsion.
In addition to its carrying capacity, Inter Scotia also has an MMC First Process fish handling sustem and high capacity fresh water production, capable of producing 5000 cubic metres of fresh water per day for fish treatment.
Intership brought togeether locals and visitors to Inter Scotia’s naming ceremony last week, with a brass band and guided tours of the new vessel, followed by a short trip.
With the naming ceremony over, Inter Scotia went to the Myklebust yard for its FLS Caligus R600 delousing system to be installed. This uses a combination of freshwater immersion and flushing fish through the FLS system, providing an efficient and gentle way to remove sea lice and gill infections in the same operation.
‘This is the second naming ceremony we have arranged in less than a year, and we are delighted that we have had the opportunity to hold both at our home territory,’ said Intership CEO Ole Peter Brandal.
‘The importance of showcasing our boats and talking about our operation to the local community around us is substantial. Naturally, it is a great pleasure that the open ship led to several hundred people coming aboard to look at the boat, the equipment, and to talk with the crew and staff. Our region is world-leading within our segment and it is important for us to create awareness around this, highlighting the opportunities that lie within the well boat industry and the aquaculture industry in general.’
