As factory trawler Georgiy Meshcheryakov, built for Russian Far East fishing company Okeabrybflot, has completed its sea trials, its sister vessel Vladimir Biryukov has been launched.
These 108 LOA by 20 metre breadth factory vessels are designed by Skipsteknisk to operate on Alaska pollock in the Sea of Okhotsk, and on herring, mackerel and pollock in Pacific waters. The pair are built for pelagic and semi-pelagic trawling and equipped with ice gallows at the stern for working under challenging winter conditions.
Georgiy Meshcheryakov and Vladimir Biryukov are designed for extended operation and to spend up to eleven months at sea between port calls, and each has accommodation for crews of up to 150.
Built at the Tersan yard in Turkey, the two trawlers are built with substantial ice reinforcement.
