French fishing company Scapêche has boosted the activities of its coastal fleet with the addition of a 17 metre ring netter.
The GRP-built Jimorhan was built in 2004 for skipper-owner Michel Millour and it joins the company’s other ring netters Tximistarri II, Mirentxu I and Face à la Mer, acquired between 2010 and 2014. These boats all fish sardine, anchovy and horse mackerel off the south of Brittany. Jimorhan’s crew of seven are staying with the boat, which is now skippered by Jean-Jacques Goanac’h, who saield as mate under its previous ownership.
The fleet of ring netters supplies small pelagics to parent company Groupement Mousquetaires’s fresh (Capitaine Houat) and canned (Capitaine Cook) production.
The ring net sardine fishery off southern Brittany has been MSC certified since 2010.
