Multi-purpose fishing vessel Leninets, built at the Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad, has reached its home port in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatky after almost two months at sea.
The first in a series of three for the VI Lenin Collective Farm, Leninets was completed in September and sailed from Kaliningrad on 4th October, arriving home to a welcoming celebration at the end of last month. Although the initial plan had been for Leninets to take the northerly passage, instead the longer southerly route through three oceans was taken.
According to the Collective Farm’s chairman Sergei Tarusov, the second vessel in the series, Kommandor, is about to be delivered and Udarnik, the third vessel, is scheduled for February.
The lead vessel in the series of Skipskompetanse-designed SK-3101R seiner/trawlers, Leninets now begins fishing trials in its home waters.
‘This vessel will allow us to have landings of fresh fish, which will be available at affordable prices, including in Kamchatka,’ said the Kamchatka Territory’s minister of fisheries Andrei Zdetovetsky at the welcoming ceremony.
